Short Bio
Winnie Daamen is currently an Associate professor with the Chair of Traffic Operations and Management, Department of Transport and Planning, Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. She received her PhD from the Delft University of Technology on ‘Modelling passenger flows in large-scale public transport facilities’. Her research interests include theory, modelling, and simulation of traffic (pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles, and vessels), and innovative methods have been developed to collect microscopic traffic data, which are used to underpin theories and models describing traffic operations. She is project leader of the ‘Urban Mobility Observatory’ (UMO) project, a large scale facility to collect and archive mobility data, and to make these data available to the research community.
