Short Bio
Ana Aguiar (F) is tenured Assistant Professor at the University of Porto (UP) and researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT). Previously, she was senior researcher at Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS, and RF and optimization engineer at cellular network operators. Her research interests lie in the field of wireless and mobile systems, recently focusing on vehicular networks, networking mobile nodes with 802.11, mobile IoT, and applications of data science for smart mobility. She coordinates the Networked and Information Processing Group and leads the Shannon Lab at IT/UP. She is adjunct coordinator of the Center of Competences for Future Cities at UP, operating the crowdsensing platform SenseMyCity, which resulted from the FP7 Future Cities project (FP7-REGPOT-2012-2013-1), and which served as base to the on-going data donor tool CovidMonitor. She led the national VOCE project on voice stress detection, and participated in more than 15 projects, in 9 of them as co-PI or WP leader. In three of the projects where she was co-PI, VitalResponder 1 and 2 and VR2Market, she worked on a communication system for forest firefighting. She published more than 70 journal and conference articles, is reviewer for several high rank IEEE and ACM journals and member conferences, and expert with the EC.
