Short Bio
Maria is a researcher at the Netherlands Institute for Transport Policy Analysis (KiM), which is a research institute of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. She has a double Master’s in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the Technische Universität München, and a PhD in Transportation from the Technische Universiteit Delft. Her PhD research focused on the demand for new mobility services, in particular pooled on-demand services and Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS). Maria’s PhD research has been international awarded. In 2019, Maria won the Michael Beesley Award for the best young researcher paper at the Thredbo 16 international conference in Singapore. Later, in 2020, she was awarded a second prize in the European TRA VISIONS Young Researcher Competition. Her research was also shortlisted among the top 12 submissions for the 2020 ITF (International Transport Forum) Young Researcher of the Year Award.
Currently, Maria is working on projects regarding shared mobility services and mobility hubs. Prior to joining the KiM, Maria also worked as a consultant for the World Bank in a project regarding new mobility.
