Short Bio
Since 2003 I am researcher at Delft University of Technology, Civil Engineering, research group Transport and Planning.
My main topics of interest are Urban intersections control, design of intersections and roundabouts, and active modes. I do research, lecture, and supervise master students on these topics. I supervise bachelor students on their graduation topic that can relate to all kinds of transportation questions, for instance urban design of transport networks for active modes, cyclist behaviour at intersections and improving public transport networks or the design of Hyperloop trajectories.
Another important aspect of my work is contacts with people working in the field of transportation, in particular the Contact group of Traffic Control Engineers of the Netherlands (CVN). Furthermore I work together with the CROW, the expertise platform on traffic engineering (e.g. updating the Handbook Traffic Control 2014).
